Collaboration Specialist

This position is an expert in collaboration and virtual media technologies in areas such as video conferencing, streaming, and lecture capture. This position will research, recommend, and support virtual media technology in the classrooms, meeting spaces, and at events. Will implement existing tools to support our current educational and business practices and to look for new solutions to solve their needs.

This is a full-time staff position, 35 hours per week, with benefits including health insurance, retirement savings plan, vacation days, paid holidays, and other additional benefits.

Reports to: Manager, Educational Media Services

FLSA status: Non-Exempt

Salary grade: Salary range $45k to $50k

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in the Media Arts, Multimedia, or Digital Media from an accredited college or university
  • 3-5 years of experience with collaboration platforms such as video conferencing, lecture capture, streaming systems and related technologies
  • Expert with video conferencing and visual presentation systems such as Highfive, Zoom, Oblong Mezzanine, and Adobe Connect
  • Experience with lecture capture systems, installation, implementation and content delivery
  • Experience with live and archived video streaming solutions, systems and technologies such as Livestream and/or Wowza
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with staff, faculty, students, and vendors
  • Ability to work independently or with others
  • Ability to prioritize and take direction in a fast-paced environment with professional demeanor
  • Commitment to provide excellent customer service
  • Versed in audio visual concepts and technologies to serve as backup to AV technicians as needed
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc.)
  • Ability to work well in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with students, faculty and staff

  • Ability to handle all information with tact and discretion and recognizes the confidential nature of ArtCenter business

Preferred Qualifications

  • Video production experience
  • CTS Certifications
  • Prior experience in higher education
  • Knowledge of art and design education


Essential Functions

Operational -70%

  • Gather requirements, set up, test, and work with requester(s) or technical contact(s) for classes or events that require collaboration technologies
  • Support video conferences at multiple locations
  • Train users and provide support as needed
  • Work with IT group on proper configuration of collaboration technologies
  • Work with auditorium staff to support classes or events that require lecture capture and/or video streaming ensuring proper sound, lighting, camera setup, and network connectivity
  • Incorporate technical, creative, and client requirements in planning events; ensure smooth execution of the event and provide quick and effective response as situational challenges arise
  • Maintain knowledge of current and future industry trends for best practices and future needs of the college
  • Provide event set up              

Equipment and Vendor Management-30%

  • Engage vendors who can assist and/or support events requiring hired staff and/or rented equipment
  • Work closely with vendors in the industry
  • Assist individual departments with equipment recommendations

Other Maarginal Duties — 5%

  • Maintain memberships and active involvement in applicable professional organizations
  • Serve on college-wide committees
  • Other duties as assigned

Physical Demands and Working Environment

Environment: Must be able to operate a variety of office, shop tools and A/V equipment including computers, mixers, amplifiers, speakers, microphones, projectors, hand tools, electronic diagnostic tools, etc. Work is performed primarily in a standard office setting with frequent interruptions and distractions; extended periods of time viewing computer monitor; interactions with other individuals. Due to the nature of the work environment, there is regular exposure to fumes, chemicals, dust and noise.

Physical: Involves minimal physical effort but may include moving about, standing, reaching, climbing, crawling, squatting, bending, frequent light lifting or pushing/pulling (occasionally up to 50 pounds), dexterity in the use of fingers, limbs, or body in the operation of office and A/V equipment. Tasks may involve extended periods of time in front of a computer monitor and keyboard. Good visual skills for accuracy and for the reporting and interpretation of data, and effective verbal communication skills to present and respond to data.

Vision: Must be able to have the visual capacity to perform activities such as preparing and reading reports, viewing a computer terminal and other normal office work with or without correction.

Hearing: Must be able to communicate effectively in the course of normal office communication or exchange ideas with or without correction.
