Jim McBride is a writer/director of movies. He has done ten features, among them THE BIG EASY, BREATHLESS, and GREAT BALLS OF FIRE, as well as documentaries and episodic television. His first film, DAVID HOLZMAN’S DIARY, was selected by the Library of Congress’ National Film Registry as a “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant” work. From 2001 to 2009 he was Master Filmmaker in Residence at the AFI Conservatory, in the last four years of which he headed the Directing department. He has been teaching at ArtCenter since 2014.
