Jeffrey Smith

Illustration / Integrated Studies


Jeffrey Smith earned an AA degree, L. A. Trade Technical College in 1977 and a BFA from the ArtCenter in 1980. Following graduation, he moved to New York, receiving illustration assignments from Time, G.Q., New York Magazine and others. 

In 1985 Smith began teaching illustration at the School of Visual Arts in NYC. In 1987 he earned an MFA from SVA, was featured in CA magazine and won a silver medal from the Society of Illustrators.

Smith won 2 gold medals from the Society of Illustrators in 2004 and 2006. In 2012 his work for "Shadow Knights" was a one-man show at the Society of Illustrator's Gallery.

In 2015, Smith participated in "Bravery and Sacrifice: 9/11 and Beyond." In 2016 the show was presented to first responders and their families at One Police Plaza in NYC at the behest of Police Commissioner William J. Bratton.

In 2018 Smith's work for New York Magazine's "Fire and Fury," was featured in the London based blog "Bleeding Cool."
