Media Design Practices prepares designers to work in emerging roles and contexts at the intersection of technology, culture and global social change.

Our graduates have the agility and skills to bring design to diverse situations, ranging from scientific research labs to futurist think tanks to non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and nonprofits to leading corporations and design studios.

In recent years, several distinct and promising placement trends have emerged. Our graduates have gone on to apply MDP’s interdisciplinary design approach within the following arenas: communication technology research and innovation units (Samsung Research, Microsoft Research, Google Creative Lab, Intel Research); unconventional contexts (Jet Propulsion Lab/NASA, United Nations, UNICEF's Tech4Dev, Kaiser Innovation Center, City of Los Angeles); independent practices and start-ups; innovation groups within advertising and media companies; and interaction and UX design in major design firms like IDEO, Frog Design, Smart Design, Continuum, 8 Inc. and 5D Worldbuilding.
