American Rescue Plan (ARP) Act’s Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF III)

The Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund III (HEERF III) was authorized by the American Rescue Plan (ARP), and signed into law on March 11, 2021, in support of institutions of higher education to serve students and ensure learning continues during the COVID-19 pandemic. American Rescue Plan (ARP) funds are in addition to funds previously authorized by the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2021 (CRRSAA), Public Law 116-260 and the Coronavirus Aid, Recovery, and Economic Security (CARES) Act.

Institutional Support – CARES, CRRSAA, ARP

ArtCenter has awarded a total of $6,534,785 of Institutional Support from the HEERF I CARES ACT ($1,084,115), HEERF II CRRSAA Act ($2,384,976), and the HEERF III ARP Act ($3,065,694), providing tuition reimbursements in the form of Tuition Reduction Grants.

Emergency Grants – CARES, CRRSAA, ARP

ArtCenter has awarded a total of $5,233,927 million in Emergency Financial Aid Grants from the HEERF I CARES ACT ($1,084,116), HEERF II CRRSAA ACT ($1,084,116), and the HEERF III ARP ACT ($3,065,695) – See below.

Application Period Closed

There were three application periods for the ARP Grants. The application period for the ARP Emergency Grants has closed. The Financial Aid Office has sent email notifications to all applicants indicating their eligibility and disbursement method. Students received either a direct payment or the amount was applied to the ArtCenter student account based upon the application request.

Spring ARP Grants: Final Report

It is estimated that 2,281 students enrolled for the Spring 2022 semester were eligible to participate. Application information was sent to students enrolled in the spring term by email. A total of $1,003,195 was awarded to the 1,118 eligible students who applied.

In addition, the remainder of both the $16,916 CARES funding was disbursed to 13 students and $12,214 CRRSAA funding was disbursed to 10 students using the Spring ARP application process.

Fall ARP Grants: Quarterly Report

It is estimated that 1,711 students enrolled for the Fall 2021 semester were eligible to participate. Application information was sent to students enrolled in the summer term by email. A total of $1,038,000 was awarded to the 835 eligible students who applied.

Summer ARP Grants – Application Closed.

It is estimated that 1,325 students enrolled for the Summer 2021 semester were eligible to participate. Application information was sent to students enrolled in the summer term by email. A total of $1,024,500 was awarded to the 614 eligible students who applied.

Grant Information

All students enrolled may apply for these emergency financial aid grants that may be used for any component of the cost of attendance such as: tuition, food, housing and childcare.

Completion of a FAFSA and/or Title IV eligibility are not prerequisites for considering a student’s application for HEERF Emergency Financial Aid Grants but may assist us in determining the greatest need.

Student Eligibility

  • all students were eligible to apply including DACA, Undocumented, and International students
  • you must be enrolled for the term offered
  • you must be enrolled in a degree program
  • you must complete the application by deadline each term

How to Apply

Complete an ArtCenter ARP HEERF III application by deadline each term

Grant amounts were determined after all applications had been received. The grants were disbursed directly to the student or applied to their ArtCenter student account depending upon their application preference.
