Ready. Set. Snap! International rubber band-powered racecar competition Formula-E

Race shows off design ingenuity, triumph over failure and other skills crucial to success in a global, creative economy

WHEN: Thursday, August 10, 2017 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m.

WHAT: The annual Formula-E race ritual ("E" for "elastic") provides corporate and student teams with valuable experience in product development, engineering, team building and fabrication while pushing their ability to find solutions under pressure, recover from failure and ultimately win the big race!

VISUALS:

  • Pre-race test runs are available to videotape in advance of race day to see the behind the scenes blood, sweat and tears required to win
  • Crowd cheers on remote controlled cars speeding through three race courses: Sinclair Hill Climb, Ashtray Drag Race and the Figure 8
  • Team branded booths, give-aways and colorful uniforms
  • Awards presentation saturated with bubbly

INTERVIEWS:

  • Corporate teams from Honda Motor Company and Mattel
  • Student teams from ArtCenter College of Design, Pasadena City College; Mt. SAC (San Antonio College), Beijing University of Technology, Beijing Technology and Business University and two teams from Inner Mongolia University of Technology
  • Judges from Disney Imagineering R&D, Faraday Future, Gensler Associates, Honda R&D, Mattel Hot Wheels, Oakley and West Monroe Partners.

  • Judges will evaluate a variety of criteria such as quality, craftsmanship, materials, style, engineering, branding, innovation, and, of course, performance.
