To our creative community

Dear ArtCenter Friends and Family,

First and foremost, we hope you and yours are healthy, safe and secure.

Thanks to all of you who have expressed support and offered assistance in many forms; we are very grateful.

At this time, the College’s efforts are focused on creative and responsive modifications that will enable our faculty and students to complete this term remotely with minimum disruption and maximum educational benefit. ArtCenter faculty and academic leadership have stepped up in remarkable ways, demonstrating their earnest commitment and facility to apply creative problem solving to the current situation. Classes resumed this past Monday and we are confident that our students are being fully supported.

Thanks to the generosity of past and current donors, we already have a President’s Discretionary Fund which is helping us to assist students who express particular needs. These donors have assured that during a normal school year–and in particular during times like this–ArtCenter is financially stable. We have also recently established a Student Support Fund to which anyone can give and add to the resources for students in need.

In reflecting on the strengths we are forced to call upon now, we are reminded of how the College is and has always been comprised of the creative and innovative composite of its alumni, department chairs, faculty, former faculty, staff and students.

In that spirit, we wanted to share some thoughts from a few of our past Alumni Award recipients. These reflections inspire us and we hope they will do the same for you.

"As designers we have a mission to try and reduce pain in the world.” — Frank Nuovo BS 86 Product Design

"Creatives have superpowers that can help to make this world a better place and solve real problems. The thing that we owe to the world is to utilize those superpowers for good." — Katie Dill BS 07 Product Design

“If you’re looking at the different roles that people in our society play, the role of creative people is to do unexpected things to help us understand how we’re going to build a better future.” — Jonathan Jarvis MFA 09 Media Design

Sending all best wishes,

Your ArtCenter Family
