ArtCenter DTLA presents Minority Report: Update. Moderated by Los Angeles artist Kandis Williams with ArtCenter African American alumni presented in the 90/300 exhibition project, Minority Report: Update reexamines the issues of presenting the black body within our contemporary cultural moment.
In 2019, UCLA Hammer Conversations hosted a panel discussion on the potentials and pitfalls of a black postmodern moment with Devin Troy Strother, Kandis Williams and gallery director Ebony L. Haynes. The conversation was a pertinent one as it addressed the tensions of presenting the black body as it relates to sexuality, politics, and history. Using this previous conversation as a jumping off point, Minority Report: Update convenes artists whose practice spans several decades and disciplines, providing a wider and comparative view of representation.
