The goal of this project, as directed by the Infiniti design team themselves, was to draw from the rich culture of Japan and allow that to feed directly into our design process. In this case, I pursued not so much the human based cultures one would expect, but rather draw upon the geography and organic life that forms the island nation. Admiring the beautiful mountainous landscapes the country offers in congruence with the scales of their native fish, of which thousands of species can be found in the interior freshwater streams alone. Bold and fortified as a mountain stands. Toned and elegant like a fish cutting through the water. The goal of the vehicle was to be, as I imagined, a fully autonomous, utopic, chauffeuring space. An experience of its own filling intermission between one location and another with a zen-like interior. Enveloping the occupants in an environment that speaks to its natural, Japanese inspiration in harmony with the nation's refined aesthetic.
