Working in multiple areas of the entertainment industry, Seattle-based Justin Oaksford is a freelance illustrator and a concept\visual development artist. He is currently employed in video game design at 343 Industries, the Microsoft Game Studios subsidiary in Washington, where he worked on the award-winning Xbox One games “Halo 4” and “Halo 5: Guardians.” He contributed as well to Microsoft’s world-building platform Project Spark, which recently closed. As an educator, Oaksford has served as an adjunct professor in the MFA program at the Digipen Institute of Technology teaching concept art, and in addition, developed his own independent program of mentorships. Oaksford has also created a number of YouTube videos for art students (and any interested viewer), offering his insights into concept design, character, craft, and process through lecture and on-screen demonstration. Oaksford’s gift for storytelling, and his passion for animation and gaming are reflected in his highly imaginative work.
