Born in Hamilton, Ontario, Marc Scimé studied at the Institute of Design at the Illinois Institute of Technology. He earned a BFA in Industrial Design and the Industrial Design Faculty Prize from the School of Design at the University of Illinois, Chicago. While studying in Chicago, Scimé began his career in the furniture industry. In 2015, Scimé received a Master of Science in Environmental Design – Furniture and Fixtures from ArtCenter. In 2016, four designs Scimé created while studying at ArtCenter received A’ Design Awards: Gold, two Silver and Bronze. In London’s Restaurant & Bar Product Design Awards, Scimé won the top prize for sofa design. Bend & Transition, an extensive modular seating and table system, created for his master’s thesis design project at ArtCenter, is currently in development for production under license with an Italian manufacturer. Bend & Transition is slated to make its market debut in 2017.
