Carla Barr is a faculty member in the Graphic Design Department at ArtCenter, where she has taught since 1990 and where she has been the go-to expert for designers in all things iPad since its introduction in 2010. Barr, who earned BFA degrees from ArtCenter and UCLA, is a former vice president and creative director for Calvin Klein Cosmetics, served as art director at "Connoisseur" magazine and was an associate art director for "Life," "Rolling Stone" and "Esquire." She has served as co-leader for the MIT Image and Meaning Conference, and her work has appeared in such publications as "IDEA," "PhotoGraphis" and "Graphis Annual." Barr is the recipient of awards from the Art Directors Club (N.Y.), Society of Publication Designers, and AIGA. She has also served as visiting professor at UCLA’s School of the Arts and Architecture in the Department of Design.
