Douglas C. Boyd, president of Boyd Communications, began his career at Ford Motor Company in the Lincoln-Mercury studio. After serving in the Air National Guard during the Vietnam War, he began freelancing in Los Angeles and started a studio to serve the petroleum, technology and automobile industries. It grew into a full-service agency for music, television, gaming, feature films and health care. Clients included Apple, CBS,Warner Bros., Fox, Universal Pictures, Harrah’s, Honda, Nissan, Kaiser Permanente, Anthem Blue Cross WellPoint and Children’s Hospital. Boyd’s work has been published in Europe, Japan, Korea and the United States. He has been recognized with countless national awards, including the gold for poster design from the New York Art Directors Club and the gold in Businessweek’s national product design competition. Boyd was involved with ArtCenter scholarships and alumni support groups for many years before he joined the board of trustees in 2010.
