A 45-year design veteran, Chuck Pelly is a world-renowned product, seating, auto and transportation designer. He is founder and former president of DesignworksUSA, which became a wholly owned subsidiary of BMW Group. Nominated four times for the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum’s Lifetime Achievement Award, Pelly is a pioneer in the development of comfort ergonomics in office seating, industrial equipment, medical equipment and automobiles. In addition to holding more than 40 patents, he has received numerous awards, taught and lectured broadly, served on many boards and has been president of the Industrial Designers Society of America. He has been involved with ArtCenter since 1968 and serves as the alumni chair for the San Diego chapter, which awarded him the George Jorgensen Design Achievement Award. Presently, Pelly is chief creative officer of Intersection-Inc., a multidisciplinary consulting group dedicated to sharing design and creative knowledge with corporations, educational institutions and organizations.
