One of the top innovators in automotive design, Freeman Thomas’ 30-year career boasts a hit parade of vehicles—from the 500-horsepower Dodge Tomahawk motorcycle to the "Noble American Sedan" strategy that evolved into the Chrysler 300C. Thomas kicked off his career in 1983 as a senior designer at Porsche, crafting the 959 and 911 models. In the ’90s, Thomas designed two of the most distinctive cars of the decade: Volkswagen’s New Beetle and the Audi TT, a sports car so pure The New York Times nominated the TT as the “car of the century.” Thomas later headed up DaimlerChrysler’s Advanced Design Studio, creating products for the Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep brands. In 2005, he joined Ford as Director of Strategic Design, where he develops product design strategies and concept vehicles for Ford, Lincoln and Mercury.
