A lifetime of passion for cars and design fuels Thomas V. Peters’ work as the director of exterior design of General Motors’ Performance Car studio. Peters has spent his 35-year career designing numerous concept, production and specialty vehicles and mentoring hundreds of designers. His influence has made its mark on many of GM’s most acclaimed vehicles. In 2014, his team celebrated a sweep of the prestigious North American Car and Truck/Utility of the Year at the Detroit Auto Show with the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray and Silverado, both of which came from his studios. Peters’ vast portfolio includes the Cadillac Sixteen concept, the 1988 Pontiac Banshee prototype, the Cadillac XLR and the C6 Corvette. In 2013, ArtCenter presented Peters with the Lifetime Achievement Award for his many design accomplishments, including his work for Chevrolet and Corvette, as well as his leadership role in breathing new life into the legendary Stingray.
