*Each term the Graphic Design Department at ArtCenter invites three design professionals to address a certain topic of interest. The Q&A will be moderated by Petrula Vrontikis.

Presenters

Sean Adams

Sean is Executive Director of the Graphic Design Graduate Program at ArtCenter, founder of Burning Settlers Cabin studio, and on-screen author for lynda.com/LinkedIn. He is the only two-term AIGA national president in AIGA’s 100-year history. In 2014, Adams was awarded the AIGA Medal, the highest honor in the profession. He currently is on the editorial board and writes for Design Observer. Adams is an AIGA and Aspen Design Fellow. He has been widely recognized by every major competition and publication, including a solo exhibition at SFMOMA.

Adams has been cited as one of the forty most important people shaping design internationally, and one of the top ten influential designers in the United States.

Chris Do

Chris is an Emmy award-winning director, designer, strategist and educator. He’s the Chief Strategist and CEO of Blind and the Founder of The Futur— an online education platform that teaches the business of design to creative thinkers. Founded in 1995, Blind has been a pioneer in the motion design field and has made hundreds of award-winning commercials, music videos and broadcast promos that combine design, typography, animation, live action and visual effects for screens and clients of all sizes.

His firm’s work has been recognized by national and international organizations, including: the Emmy’s, Effie Gold, Effie, Huffington Post, Lynda.com, Webbie, Communication Arts, London International Awards, One Show, British D&AD, AICP 20, Pictoplasma, Type Director’s Club, IDN, Addy Awards, BDA, Create, Stash, Art Director’s Club, and Motionographer.

Norman R. Van Treeck

Norman is a registered patent attorney and represents clients ranging from startup ventures to Fortune 500 corporations in all aspects of intellectual property. He works closely with sole inventors and in-house counsel to develop effective intellectual property strategies to meet each client's needs and expectations.

Norman holds a degree in Computer Science, with minors in Math and Statistics. His technical expertise, as well as his leadership qualities, were further developed as Chief Fire Control Technician in the U.S. Navy specializing in computer hardware, radar systems, microwave systems and advanced electronics.

Norman's legal practice incorporates his computer science and electronics experience to service his high-tech intellectual property clientele. He expertly advises clients on protecting their Internet and technology-related businesses.
