Biography

Assistant Chair, Illustration Design, and Associate Professor, Visual Art & Communication, Illustration.

David Tillinghast’s work has appeared in major newspapers, magazines and materials for Visa, Freddie Mac and Harvard University among others. He has worked in advertising, editorial, book publishing, and corporate illustration and is the recipient of numerous awards for illustration, graphic design, self-promotion and art direction. He has been a lead delegate to the United Nations for a Designmatters project supporting the Millennium Development Goals, and lead faculty on Uncool: The Anti-Gun Violence Project, a series of award-winning children's books that were adopted into local public libraries. From 2017 to 2018, he completed training with Al Gore through The Climate Reality Project to serve as a volunteer climate reality leader, joining volunteer leaders from over 135 countries, dedicated to community education about the global climate crisis and its very real and viable solutions.
