Edgar Silva is a contemporary fine art painter, from Los Angeles, California. Growing up in LA, he was exposed to many artists and art forms. The theme and direction of his work is to paint in a naturalist manner the hard work, dreams and goals of the people around him: friends, family and the Los Angeles working class. He is focused on visually capturing moments that give life meaning and has been deeply influenced by masters, such as Anders Zorn, Antonio Lopez Garcia, Edgar Degas, Frank Brangwyn, Joaquin Sorolla, John Singer Sargent, Jules Bastine Lepage, Nicolas Fechin, and Saturnino Herran.
Edgar's passion and love for art led him to apply to ArtCenter, where he had the good fortune to study on a full scholarship with numerous artists. His education included great instructors: Aaron Smith, Scott Hess, Sergio Sanchez, Charles Hu, Kent Williams, Kevin Chen, Steve Huston, Danny Galieote, Ron Brown, Bill Perkins, Dan McCaw, Alex Gross, Rob Clayton, David Luce, Alex Shafer, Gary Meyer and many others.
Edgar Silva continues to show his work in galleries and is currently teaching painting and drawing classes at ArtCenter, Laguna College of Art and Design, Gnomon School of Visual Effects in Hollywood, Situ Art Academy in Pasadena and ID8 Art studio in Palos Verdes.
