Meet Tejas Lokhande (he/him), BS, Product Design

Tejas Lokhande's acceptance into ArtCenter was a memorable–and loud–moment. "I went to my dad's room at like 7 in the morning, and I was just shouting, 'I got accepted to ArtCenter!,'" he says. "I mean, just look at ArtCenter's alumni list. It just keeps you in awe."

Lokhande took the leap from India to ArtCenter, where he's studying the intricate and inspiring process of product design, from brilliant idea to fully realized product. "It feels like you can create something out of thin air," he says. "I think that's the biggest gift of product design.”

Lokhande says the guidance of faculty working in the industry, who share their real-world experiences, has been invaluable.  "I don't even feel like they're my teachers–I feel like we're coworkers, all sitting at one big table," he says. "We discuss the assignments, share opinions. It's pretty cool."

Outside ArtCenter, Lokhande is enjoying the chance to explore his new hometown of Pasadena. "It's a mixture of futuristic and vintage at the same time," he says. "Pasadena is the best city I've ever lived in, hands down."

While Lokhande hasn't committed to a career path, he wants to learn as much as possible at ArtCenter to help bring his vision into focus. "I have this motivation to get into the entrepreneurial side of things," he says. "So I want to learn not just about how to create products, but how the business works."
