HMCT Gallery

Located at the entrance to ArtCenter’s 950 building, a former supersonic jet-testing facility, the Hoffmitz Milken Center for Typography (HMCT) South Campus Gallery displays notable work in typography letterform design and visual communication.

The Gallery plays a critical role in the mission of the HMCT to reinforce the meaning and value of typography; elevate and advance the understanding of both graphic design and typographic practice, and honor the past while anticipating the future of typography in print, digital and emerging media.

Presenting up to three exhibitions per year, either monographic or curated group installations, the Gallery serves as an educational tool for students, professional design communities, and the general public. Exhibitions range from academic research projects—sometimes as part of HMCT’s annual residency programs for artists and designers—to surveys of influential historical designers and contemporary, language-based fine art. The exhibitions are supplemented by accessible educational programming, including lectures, panel discussions, publications and in-person and video tours.
