Biography
Los Angeles-based artist Jessica Rath received her MFA from California Institute of the Arts in 1996. In 2014-15, she received the Mid Career Fellowship from the California Community Foundation, C.O.L.A. (City of Los Angeles) Fellowship and grants from the Metabolic Studios, Reed Foundation, Elizabeth Firestone Graham Foundation Grant for "a better nectar," a traveling museum exhibition and catalog based on research collaboration with bee scientists at University of Nevada, Reno. Other projects include "Ripe," films, objects and lithography based on tomato genetics, and "take me to the apple breeder" which was featured in numerous reviews including Artforum, Art in America and Smithsonian. In 2016 Rath exhibited at Pitzer College Galleries with Mark Dion and Dana Sherwood for "The Oscelots of Foothill Boulevard."
