Biography

Rita Blaik is a multidisciplinary scientist and artist based in Los Angeles, California. Her life's goal is to find new and innovative ways of communicating science to people through interactive discussions, art and other media. Her research specialization is in nanotechnology and biotechnology for clean energy and implantable device applications, and she received her PhD in 2015 in Materials Science and Engineering from UCLA. Currently, she is the director of education at the California NanoSystems Institute at UCLA. She is also an exhibited artist whose current work deals primarily with issues regarding science and identity.
