Blanka Deroko is a Professor and Assistant Chair of Sciences at ArtCenter College of Design, Humanities and Sciences Department. She received her PhD in Technoetics and Interactive Media from the School of Art, Design and Architecture at University of Plymouth in the United Kingdom. She is a design researcher, multimedia artist and educator with senior experience in industry leadership, pioneering new technologies and original media content for film and television.
Dr. Deroko is a public speaker and published researcher in areas spanning digital humanities, creative technologies, human computer interaction, art and science, and design for space and extreme environments. She has written for various publications including Technoetic Arts: A Journal of Speculative Research and Journal of Space Philosophy. She has appeared numerous times on WNPR as an expert and was interviewed on podcasts discussing design and liminality. She has spoken, delivered workshops and exhibited artworks in various institutions around the world including Geneva University of Art and Design, La Sorbonne, Paris, Universite Paris 8, Vincennes-San-Denis, University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, University of Rio de Janeiro, Keio University in Tokyo, University of Zagreb, The German University in Cairo, Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti Milano, CalArts, CA and UCLA among others.
She was a recipient of the Fellowship in the Graduate School at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL in 2001/02 and between 2011 and 2021 was a researcher at the Centre for Advanced Inquiry in the Interactive Arts at Plymouth University, UK. She served on the ACM Siggraph Review Committee for the category of Art Papers in 2017 and 2019 and on the Review Committee for the Art Gallery in 2026.
