Biography

John Sinner is a writer and director, and founder and co-artistic director of FANCYPLAYGROUND (www.fancyplayground.com), a non-profit independent theatrical production company of collaborating experimental artists.  His company's productions, based on Sinner's surreal writings, create multi-arts/multi-media events, with live & filmed performance, lyrical-emotive original language, stylized movement, hyper drama & costuming, acerbic-dark humor, and immersive, evocatively playful dreamscape sets with experimental lighting & sonics.  The productions reveal the inner voices & journeys of Sinner's disenfranchised characters as they attempt to transcend fantastically the boundaries of a patriarchal society.  FANCYPLAYGROUND has independently produced Sinner's work via invitations from international and national festivals & other presenters, including those in Amsterdam, New York City, and California.  A native of L.A., Sinner studied at Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London, the O'Neill Center National Theatre Institute in Connecticut, and Trinity College in Dublin.  In 2013, Sinner won the Sherwood Award for “Innovative & Adventurous New Artists.”
