ArtCenter College Of Design to Participate In Monterey Car Week and Present Oilstainlab's HF-11 Supercar by Alumni Iliya and Nikita Bridan at The Quail: A Motorsports Gathering

ArtCenter Design Excellence Awards to be Presented at The Quail and Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance During Monterey Car Week

PASADENA, CA – ArtCenter College of Design will showcase Oilstainlab’s HF-11 supercar at The Quail: A Motorsports Gathering on Friday, August 15, as part of the College’s presence at multiple events throughout the world-renowned Monterey Car Week.

The brainchild of alumni and twin brothers Iliya Bridan (BS 11) and Nikita Bridan (BS 11), who are also faculty members in the College’s Transportation Design program, the HF-11 is a striking evolution of Oilstainlab’s original, handmade Half-11, a 1960s tribute. Offering a unique blend of nostalgia, performance and advanced technology, with a healthy dose of mischief, the vehicle demands attention with an exposed powertrain, dynamic proportions and a minimalist streamlined body. The HF-11’s livery for The Quail appearance was designed in collaboration with ArtCenter students.

No other institution has had a greater influence on automotive design than ArtCenter College of Design, whose alumni and faculty are behind many of the vehicles on the road today, and several iconic vehicles on view throughout Monterey Car Week. ArtCenter’s tent at The Quail will host President Karen Hofmann (BS 97), Board of Trustees Chair Michael Warsaw (BS 90), Transportation Design Chair Marek Djordjevic (BS 91) and Associate Chair Alan Macey (BS 06).

Several ArtCenter Transportation Design students will also attend Monterey Car Week events, including The Quail, Exotics on Broadway, and the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. Whether sketching vehicles, meeting designers or immersing themselves in car culture, the students will have a unique opportunity to experience firsthand a “living classroom” of vehicle design.

ArtCenter will present the ArtCenter College of Design - Design Excellence Award at both The Quail (Friday, August 15) and Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance (Sunday, August 17). From among all the vehicles on display, one standout automobile for each event will be selected to receive the award, which recognizes design excellence. The award presented at The Quail will be judged by ArtCenter students and awarded by Michael Warsaw. Judges for Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance include Karen Hofmann, Marek Djordjevic and acclaimed architect Lord Norman Foster. The award trophy was designed by ArtCenter student Marco Lusso as an interpretation of the 1958 LeMans Coupe designed by Strother MacMinn, the founder of the College’s Transportation Design program.

This year marks ArtCenter’s 23rd consecutive year participating in Monterey Car Week. In addition to its presence at The Quail, the College will also host a tent at Exotics on Broadway on Saturday, August 16, where many vehicles with alumni connections are expected to be on display.

ArtCenter alumni are invited to attend a special 2025 Monterey Car Week Reception at the Monterey Plaza Hotel on Saturday, August 16, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. For more information, please visit the event page. Registration is required.
