Boosters required for campus access Spring 2022

Dear ArtCenter Community:

As we close out 2021, the health, safety and protection of our community continue to be our highest priority. The College has been managing its response to the COVID-19 pandemic through a collaborative decision-making body, the Emergency Response Team, which includes representation from Executive Cabinet, Senior Leadership Group, Department Chairs and Faculty Council. This group will continue to monitor the state of the pandemic and will deliberate on and update the community regarding any changes to ArtCenter’s access policies and safety protocols.

Effective December 23, the College requires that every individual who seeks access to any of the College’s facilities, and who is fully vaccinated, must obtain a booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine when eligible. Booster doses are authorized by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Individuals who received the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines are eligible to receive a booster dose six months after the second shot. Johnson & Johnson recipients are eligible after two months from the date of the first injection.

Going forward, individuals must receive their booster dose within seven days of becoming eligible. Anyone who has already passed the seven-day period should obtain a booster as soon as possible. All vaccination records must be uploaded using the COVID-19 Vaccination Verification Submission form.

Specifically, the College will accept COVID-19 vaccination records of Pfizer, Moderna or Johnson & Johnson vaccines as authorized by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) or any vaccine approved by the World Health Organization (WHO) for anyone currently residing outside the U.S.

Anyone accessing our physical campus in person on or after January 14, is to be fully vaccinated and boosted against COVID-19 when eligible or must have requested and received an exemption to the policy. You may apply for an exemption by emailing ehs@artcenter.edu.

We will continue to require face coverings, physical distancing, hygiene and sanitation measures as extra layers of protection against COVID-19 and other respiratory illnesses.

For those who haven’t yet been vaccinated, free vaccines are in ample supply and widely available for all individuals in the U.S., including international students and visitors if they haven’t been vaccinated prior to arrival. To view a list of locations offering vaccinations in the Los Angeles area and to schedule an appointment, visit VaccinateLACounty.com or MyTurn.ca.gov.

If you have any questions, please contact ehs@artcenter.edu.

I hope you have a happy, safe and healthy break, and look forward to seeing you in the new year.
