Student Leadership Award winner Lucy Lue encouraged other students

Shaped by a childhood surrounded by Silicon Valley’s innovation and her Taiwanese heritage, Product Design student and Fall 2024 Student Leadership Award winner Lucy Lue transformed at ArtCenter from a shy individual into a confident leader who uplifts other students.

“Effective leadership often starts with creating spaces where others can thrive,” says Lue in a personal statement for the award.

As a Teaching Assistant, Product Design term representative, and in ArtCenter Student Government—where she served as director of events, vice president and then president—Lue fostered a supportive and inclusive environment.

Lue established a virtual community for Product Design students, and organized events such as a virtual sticker-making workshop, a campus reopening town hall and an international student info session. She inspired new students at Orientation, and hosted creatives for software demos with clubs.

“Each role taught me valuable lessons about perseverance, adaptability and the importance of building community,” Lue says.
