Nikolaus Hafermaas

Biography

Nik is an internationally recognized and award-winning media artist, designer and educational leader. He is a passionate advocate for integrated art and design programs in all media formats.
During his 14-year tenure leading the undergraduate and graduate graphic design departments at Art Center between 2004 and 2018, Nik created a revolutionary transmedia curriculum by merging print, packaging, motion, and visual interaction design.
In his hometown of Berlin, Germany, he initiated ArtCenter Berlin, the school's European satellite studio for forward-thinking global collaborations and transdisciplinary programs abroad.
Nik lives and works in Berlin, where he founded hafermaas°creative, a design consultancy that collaborates with diverse experts to bring creative visions to life, informed by insight, cutting-edge design and extensive experience.
