Biography

Dan Marsh is the kind of creative director who doesn’t really believe in “career paths,” mostly because his own feels more like a well-edited montage than a straight line. He helped build MPC Creative from the ground up, launched ManvsMachine’s LA office into orbit, and spent time at BUCK making things that move, occasionally on purpose. He’s worked on projects for brands you’ve definitely heard of (Apple, Nike, PlayStation) and some you probably haven’t, but would nod along with in a meeting.

When he’s not directing commercials or translating abstract ideas into motion, Dan teaches design and filmmaking—formerly at RISD and Michigan State, and currently at ArtCenter. He believes students are smarter than people think—and that whether you’re in a classroom or a studio, the best work starts with listening.

Outside of all that, Dan writes fiction, cooks like someone who’s definitely considered opening a restaurant, and builds furniture where it’s genuinely hard to say whether the form or function is nicer. He thinks stories matter, collaboration is everything, and good ideas can come from anywhere—even spreadsheets.
