Executive Director, Designmatters
Jennifer May is the executive director of Designmatters, the social innovation department at ArtCenter College of Design, where she oversees a dynamic portfolio of cross-disciplinary partnerships, curricular and extracurricular projects and an active slate of special initiatives and publications in design for health, public policy, social entrepreneurship, social justice and sustainable development. She is co-editor of Design for Social Innovation: Case Studies from Around the World, published by Routledge in November 2021. She was the managing editor of LEAP Dialogues: Career Pathways in Design for Social Innovation (DAP, 2018), an award-winning publication on new design practices in social innovation, and editor of the open-source LEAP Dialogues: The Educator’s Guide. She earned a BA from Emerson College and an MBA from USC Marshall School of Business, where she was a Brittingham Social Enterprise Lab Graduate Fellow and a Forté Fellow. She is a recipient of the 2018 Design Incubator Educator’s Service Award and was named a 2020 Impact Maker to Watch in Los Angeles.
