ECLIPSE is an exhibition that will probe the contemporary art, science, history and culture of solar eclipses in anticipation of the Great American Eclipse taking place on August 21, 2017.
The exhibition opens Friday, June 30 at ArtCenter College of Design’s Alyce de Roulet Williamson Gallery in Pasadena and continues through September 10, 2017. The ECLIPSE exhibition is co-curated by Williamson Gallery director Stephen Nowlin and Williams College astronomer Jay Pasachoff, in association with New York Historical Society Curator of Drawings Roberta J.M. Olson and Lick Observatory artist and curator Anthony Misch.
ECLIPSE will feature works of contemporary art by Lita Albuquerque, Russell Crotty, Stephen Dankner, Rosemarie Fiore, Michael C. McMillen and Jacqueline Woods. The exhibition will include objects and artifacts borrowed or sourced from the Lick Observatory, The Huntington Library, the Museum of Jurassic Technology, Caltech Archives, JPL/NASA, Carnegie Observatories and Goddard Space Flight Center.
