Throughout the term, students will be given three different scenarios, spanning different aspects of the vehicle and transportation industries. For each of the three assignments, the students will be broken into random teams as a further exercise in working under duress on short-term projects with unfamiliar cohorts. Each team will then be assigned to work with a professional futurist, who will teach students how to generate the type of future scenarios that help validate design and systems proposals. Students will be introduced to the futurist interest in Social, Technological, Economic, Ecological and Political (STEEP) futures. Finally, at the end of each project, they will make a full presentation to an outside, professional audience.
