ACX TEENS COURSE DYNAMIC DRAWING TEACHES TEENS TO COMMUNICATE IDEAS THROUGH DRAWINGS

In the ACX Teens course Dynamic Drawing, taught by alumnus Joe Del Rosario (BS 95 Product Design), students explore rapid visualization techniques using ink, pens, markers and other related mediums. ACX Teens is ArtCenter’s extension program of art and design courses for high school students in grades 9 through 12.

Students in Dynamic Drawing learn to control their lines and line weights while drawing with line economy in a quick visual descriptive style. They develop observation and perspective skills and strengthen their ability to communicate ideas and thoughts through drawings.

This course is perfect for students interested in ArtCenter’s Product Design, Transportation Design, Illustration, Fine Art or Entertainment Design programs.

“We use our weekly drawing studies as inspiration for design concepts, and the concepts are tailored to the students’ major and portfolio,” says Del Rosario. “We use common objects as texture studies and real environments to create backgrounds for design concepts. The class gives teens the freedom to explore areas of design and techniques while teaching them foundational drawing skills. The students’ final sketch book reinforces their portfolio.”
